About

Vanessa Amaral was born and raised in Angra do Heroísmo, in the Azores Islands, in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Early on, she realized that the island was just the beginning of greater adventures, both personally and professionally. Following a season on São Miguel Island, she moves to Lisbon in 2013.

Her need to create content began at an early age and has accompanied her ever since on this journey to find the most appropriate way to express herself. As she went along, she became more creative. In addition to writing scripts and composing music, she filmed and edited videos. Her desire to communicate and reach different audiences led her to learn web technologies and, at 14, she built her first website. In the digital world, she is curious and self-taught, especially in terms of strategy, design, production, and optimization of a variety of online communication methods. Additionally, she has a passion for Marketing, which is why, after getting a degree in Management, she decided to pursue her post-graduate degree at IPAM in Digital Marketing.

As part of several cultural and academic projects, she was in charge of communication, where the "small bug" of digital was gaining more expression. By the end of 2013, she had joined Worten's E-commerce team as range manager for the mobile and entertainment categories. The Content Production team was founded by her. Her role there included assisting the development and UX teams with the implementation of Worten's newly designed website. As part of this work, she contributed to the content strategy of the largest Portuguese technology retailer's website.

She then joined Worten's Brand and Communication Department, where she was responsible for the brand's social media strategy and content creation.

Currently, Vanessa is a self-employed Social Media Consultant, Mentor/Coach, Teacher/Trainer. Both in Portugal and abroad, she has worked for highly recognized brands. A good example of this was her recent role as Head of Social Media at Flux Academy.

She is fulfilling her dream of sharing knowledge under the motto "Sharing is Caring", participating in lectures, workshops, and other communication formats. Her talks are usually about social media and content strategy, as well as her personal and professional experiences. She began teaching at Lisbon Digital School in February 2020.

Her podcast "Os Anti-Sociais" discusses social networks, content, and digital culture with guests in these fields. She also maintains a YouTube channel with content related to Social Media, Digital Culture, and Lifestyle Design.
